Summary

Correction from 2026-v1

  • Emissions factors for nonmunicipal waste disposal have increased compared to those reported in the 2026-v1.
  • A correction was done in the application of decomposable degradable organic carbon (DDOC) values. Specifically, the fraction of degradable organic carbon parameter (DOCf = 0.5) had previously been applied twice, resulting in an underestimation of emissions factors for nonmunicipal waste by half.
  • This error first occured in the 2025 Greenhouse Gas Inventory (1990–2023), and therefore affected the 2025 Measuring Emissions Guide, and subsequent releases.
  • The 2026 Greenhouse Gas Inventory (1990–2024) and this MEG release (2026-v2) have resolved this issue.

  • The current long CSV is emission_factors_2026_v2_long.csv.
  • The published change CSV is emission_factor_changes_2025_to_2026_v2_long.csv; it compares the published 2025 emissions factors with the published 2026 emissions factors.
  • The published summary workbook is summary_of_changes_2026_v2.xlsx; it summarises the main changes by catalogue page and section.
  • Historical downloads include the 2025 v3 release artifacts and the earlier legacy 2025 flatfile.
